Do I know you?
Coach Novella resides in Branford, Connecticut and has worked in the field of social work since 1997. She is a UCONN Alumni (GO HUSKIES) and the mother of 3 teenage boys who keep her very busy!
Though Coach Novella never really considered herself to be athletic and wasn’t ever big into going to a gym, she always enjoyed being active. Growing up, she took several years of dancing (ballet & jazz) as well as martial arts and was the captain of her high school cheerleading team. More recently, she has served as an ambassador for a national running group and has completed several 5K’s, 2 half marathons, and is currently training for her first marathon.
Novella first stepped into a Crossfit “box” after the coaxing from her good friend in October, 2012. Walking into the box was both an intimidating and intriguing experience for her. Through Crossfit, she has found the motivation to push past her comfort zone and accomplish tasks she never thought were possible. To this day, she still finds it intimidating and intriguing walking into the box and she loves it!
Novella began the coaching internship program at CFB in September, 2015. She began to shadow CFB’s head coaches, Mark and Tim, to learn how to warm-up a class, demonstrate movements, understand gym organization, etc. all while developing relationships within the great CFB community. She then obtained her Crossfit Level 1 Coaching certificate in April, 2016 and has since furthered her training by attending a weekend seminar taught by a Crossfit Level 4 instructor and achieving her certificate in Enhanced Coaching.
Coach Novella finds fulfillment in assisting others to reach their fitness goals and to see the smile on an athlete’s face after achieving what they themselves thought wasn’t possible. She is excited to continue her education in fitness and to share her knowledge with the athletes within the CFB community.
