The first step to beginning your fitness journey with CrossFit Bethany is to attend a free intro class. Once you arrive you’ll have a one on one introduction and we’ll get a better sense of what you’re looking for, explain our programs, how we train and put you through a CrossFit workout if you’d like with one of our coaches. Afterward, we’ll talk about what membership options and programs work best for your specific goals.

Step # 2 – Enroll In Our OnRamp Program

Our personalized OnRamp program is our way of welcoming new members and making sure you have everything you need to kick off your fitness journey with us in the most empowering way. Don’t worry – if the thought of getting started makes you nervous, we totally get it. We know that it takes courage to try something new and we’ve all been there. We always say, “the hardest part is walking in the door”. And we promise this will be true for you too.

 What is OnRamp?

OnRamp consists of four one-on-one personal training sessions with a certified CrossFit Bethany Coach. In this program, you will learn all the foundational CrossFit movements in individualized detail. Your Coach will introduce you to CrossFit weight lifting movements, how to do them safely, and how to work towards achieving perfect form. You will explore exercise modifications and decide together where you may need to modify movements in any given CrossFit workout. You will learn about the different types of CrossFit workouts, how our programming works, and why it is so effective. Your Coach will have a conversation with you about your personal goals and discuss an achievement strategy for actually reaching them. And, you will start to get to know the CrossFit lingo (and what all those acronyms mean!), learn your way around the gym, be introduced to some of our members, and find out how to stay informed of CFB events and announcements. Your OnRamp Coach’s mission is to ensure that you are comfortable at CFB and successful in our foundational movements so that you are able to integrate into our regularly scheduled CrossFit classes safely and with confidence. You should also know that your OnRamp sessions are not just instruction-filled. You will definitely get a great workout in as well so bring water, wear comfortable workout clothes and plan to break a sweat!

 Logistics and Details

The total cost for our OnRamp program is $150.

Sessions are one-hour long and are offered at morning and evening appointments. Each session is scheduled with a Coach that can best help you reach your goals and work within your schedule. Our Coaches are trained to work with people of all ability levels so don’t worry, we’ll match you up with the perfect Coach for you. Typically, all four sessions are completed within two weeks depending on your availability. Once you have completed all four sessions of your OnRamp program, your Coach will work with you to get you signed up for the monthly CrossFit Bethany membership of your choice. And then the most powerful thing happens – then you begin your journey toward a healthy and fit future of your creation.

CrossFit is a high intensity workout that incorporates body weight and gymnastic movements, cardio, and olympic lifting movements. The WOD (workout of the day) is different every day but includes similar movements that have been programmed in different combinations to create the most successful workout to keep your body challenged. CrossFit classes are one hour long and are led by a certified CrossFit coach. Participants of all ability levels do the same workout with modifications made for those unable to do the prescribed movements. In every class at CrossFit Bethany, we have men and women of various backgrounds and ability levels working out and inspiring each other to be their best.

No way! CrossFit Bethany is a place to get fit, lose weight, gain muscle, increase strength, improve mobility, and sustain a healthy long-term lifestyle. We always say, you start where you start and all are welcome. Each workout is designed for every participant to push themselves as much as THEY choose. We truly welcome all ability levels.

At the core of our programming and coaching is a dedication to safety and long-term health. We require new members to complete our On-Ramp program to gain a solid understanding of the foundational CrossFit movements before participating in a regularly scheduled CrossFit class. And, in every CrossFit class you will be given full instruction before and while you are attempting any movement. Every CrossFit Bethany coach is (at minimum) a certified CrossFit coach and has completed our rigorous twelve-month long Coaching Internship Program under head coach and CFB owner, Coach Tim. We are not the type of gym that will push you to do anything you are uncomfortable with. Your intensity level is up to you.

It’s so funny – we get asked this a lot and we can see why. If you google CrossFit, you’ll find a lot of pictures of professional CrossFit athletes. And just like any other professional athlete, these incredibly strong CrossFit athletes have dedicated their lives to their sport, to getting stronger, leaner, and better. They train multiple times a day and eat a diet that helps them build muscle. These professional athletes do not represent your normal, everyday, CrossFit athlete that works out at CrossFit Bethany. Our members are everyday people who reside in Bethany, Beacon Falls, Naugatuck, Seymour, Woodbridge, Amity, Prospect, Cheshire, Hamden, New Haven and other areas of Connecticut. CrossFit Bethany members are working to be healthier and more fit and be empowered by a supportive community.

We require anyone new to CrossFit to complete our On-Ramp Program. On-Ramp consists of four personal training sessions with a CrossFit Coach where every foundational CrossFit movement is instructed in personalized detail. We want you to know how to do these movements safely and comfortably before participating in a regularly scheduled CrossFit class.

Absolutely – your first class is on us! We invite you to join us for any CrossFit class on any Wednesday. We just ask that you arrive a couple of minutes early so we can show you around before class.

Can I come to any CrossFit class or do I need to reserve a spot? 2017-04-25T21:47:52+00:00

Once you are a CrossFit Bethany member, you are welcome to participate in any regularly scheduled CrossFit class. There is no need to reserve a spot in advance.

What’s the difference between CrossFit and CrossFit Bootcamp? 2017-05-02T14:44:55+00:00

CrossFit Bootcamp focuses mostly on high intensity cardio and incorporates less weight lifting than our CrossFit program. CrossFit Bootcamp is a great way to kick-start your metabolism and get used to getting that heart rate up while dabbling in light weight movements.

Will I have to lift heavy weight in a CrossFit class? 2017-04-25T21:49:55+00:00

No one is ever pushed to lift heavy weight at CrossFit Bethany. We work on form and safety first. The amount of weight you lift is determined by you and your individual goals. Though we are here to guide and support you, ultimately you are in charge of your fitness journey at CrossFit Bethany.

Do I have to be a CrossFit Bethany member to be able to participate in your yogalates classes? 2017-05-02T14:46:08+00:00

Nope! Members and Non-Members are welcome to join in on our yogalates classes! Yogalates is a combination of yoga and pilates and is incredibly effective in strengthening your core, improving posture and increasing flexibility.

Yes! We offer CrossFit Kids programs for children between the age of 5-12. We also offer a sports strength and conditioning program for adolescents between the age of 13-16.

We believe in a whole foods approach to nutrition. The Paleo diet is common for CrossFitters but is not for everyone. We recognize that when it comes to nutrition, everyone is a bit different with individual goals, allergies, tolerances, and vices. Our fitness nutrition specialist, Emily, is available by appointment to create a customized meal plan based on your specific goals. Emily can help you lose weight (or gain weight), increase muscle mass, decrease fat mass, feel healthier, sleep better, and have more energy for maximum performance every day and in the gym.
